• Cylindrical steel body ~75mm diameter, normally buried with only the pronged fuze exposed (~10cm when set for tripwire)
• UPROM-1 fuze: four pressure prongs around a central spigot with free-rotating tripwire ring

• Actuation: 9kg of pressure on the prongs or 3kg of pull on a tripwire tilts the prong assembly, pushing down an internal collar and releasing three retaining balls in the central striker assembly. The spring-loaded striker fires the percussion cap, igniting a 1.5-second delay element.
• The delay element ignites the expelling charge in the central tube. The charge shears the brass base screws and lofts the tethered body out of the ground, leaving the base plug behind.
• At ~65cm of rise the 70-80cm wire lanyard reaches full extension and jerks the detonator assembly down onto the striker spike, firing the main charge and shattering the grooved body in all directions.
• The fuze internals: striker and striker spring held by three release balls, E-60 primer, pyrotechnic delay charge and booster. See the UPROM-1 cutaway plate for the component layout.

• UNARMED (transit configuration): fuze removed from the mine and capped; fuze-well sealed with a brass transit plug and rubber O-ring; safety collar secures the prong assembly; safety clip seated in the groove below the prongs with the locking wire flipped down.
• ARMED: fuze screwed into the fuze-well, mine buried to fuze depth, safety collar and clip removed. The prong assembly is free, 9kg pressure or 3kg tripwire pull will actuate it.
• Arming is performed remotely: the emplacer attaches a line to the safety-clip locking wire and pulls the clip from a prone position at distance. Treat any emplaced mine as armed.
• Indicators on an encountered mine: presence or absence of the safety clip in the groove below the prongs is the primary visible state indicator. Absence of the clip means armed.

1. Follow tripwires to BOTH ends before approaching, clearing the ground along the wire for blast mines (PMA-3, PMN), additional wires and booby traps. Confirm only one mine is on the wire.
2. Check the immediate ground around the mine for booby traps or anti-disturbance devices — if detected, do not proceed; blow in place.
3. Neutralize the fuze: slide the original safety clip into the groove below the pressure prongs and flip down the locking wire. If the original clip is unavailable, insert a 2mm wire or nail through the hole at the stem of the prongs.
4. Cut tripwires or remove the tripwire clips from the fuze ring only after the fuze is secured.
5. Standoff attack alternative: fire a De-Armer Kit / .50 cal de-armer with a standard projectile at the fuze body — aim point 64mm (2.50in) per the attack geometry plate, perpendicular to the fuze axis.
6. If pulling: confirm no pull-type anti-disturbance devices, rig a line or hook remotely, pull the mine at least 1m from its hole and wait 10 minutes before approach.
7. Unscrew the UPROM-1 fuze from the body and replace the protective cap on the bottom of the fuze if available. Store components separately for disposal.

1. Preferred: blow in place using 2 x 0.25kg explosive charges set on opposite sides of the mine body to create an earmuff effect.
2. Recovered components: transport hazardous material to a demolition site and dispose of by detonation.
