A clean surface find: good light, stencils legible. The favorable case, and the honest place to start. Everything downstream runs on the laptop.

NO CONNECTIVITY ASSUMED

02 · SPOTTER · SAM 3

Lift it off the ground.

A SAM 3 front end outlines the whole bomb, nose to tail, and hands the recognizer a clean crop. This overlay is real SAM 3 output on this bomb, not a drawing.

03 · CROP → READ

Read what's stenciled.

Zoom the crop and read the markings straight off the body: GP · 500 LB · AN-M64 · U.S. EXPLOSIVE BOMB · TNT · LOT 2448.

MARKINGS READ FROM THE BODY

04 · LIBRARY CHECK

Check it against the record.

The markings it just read are checked against the on-device library record for the AN-M64. Name, filler, and hazard come from the reference, not from the model's imagination.

DESCRIPTION

  • Cylindrical steel body, 75mm diameter by 271mm height, with the UPROM-1 pronged fuze screwed into the top. Normally buried with only the prongs exposed.
  • UPROM-1 fuze: four pressure prongs around a central spigot carrying a free-rotating tripwire ring. Up to six tripwires (~16m each) can be attached.
  • Body is internally grooved to produce a large number of high-velocity steel fragments.
  • Finish is typically olive drab with yellow stenciling (e.g. TX50 / PROM-1 / KV / serial).

1,278 RECORDS. ZERO BARS NEEDED.

Search it the way a tech thinks: three simple filters narrow 1,278 records to the handful that matter, in seconds, with no signal.

The current library is built on open-source public data plus contributions from the founder.

  • SILHOUETTE SHAPE PICKERFamily-first visual search. Every silhouette drawn in-house.
  • NUMERIC RANGE SEARCHHard min/max limits on size and weight. Out of tolerance means the record is excluded, full stop.
  • FOUND-IN / THEATER FILTERSNarrow to what's actually been encountered where you are, with found-in data on a growing set of records.

FOUR REFERENCES. ONE RECORD. CONFLICTS SHOWN.

SOURCES MERGE INTO ONE RECORD. WHERE THEY DISAGREE, THE CONFLICT IS SHOWN, NOT HIDDEN

FAQ

THE THINGS EVALUATORS ASK FIRST

DOES IT NEED INTERNET?

No. Recognition, retrieval, reasoning, library, and procedures all run on one laptop; the tool assumes a denied environment by default. Only optional extras like live map tiles and web fonts use the network when it's available, the AI, library, and procedures never need it.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT CAN'T IDENTIFY SOMETHING?

It says so. Abstention is a feature: weak or conflicting evidence exits as UNSURE, routes to human review, and is logged. Uncertain calls are never dressed up as answers.

CAN I LOAD MY OWN PUBLICATIONS AND RECORDS?

Yes. Reference content installs as self-contained data packs. Add your unit's publications, extend or override bundled records, remove packs when the mission changes.

CAN I USE A DIFFERENT AI MODEL?

Yes. Swap the reasoning model from settings and bring your own local model. No cloud dependency, no vendor lock.

IS THIS AN OPERATIONAL TOOL?

No. This is a demonstration prototype evaluated on a limited held-out test set. Further training and validation are required before any operational use.

WHERE DOES THE REFERENCE DATA COME FROM?

Community and institutional sources, used with attribution and permission, merged with per-field provenance. Every value keeps a link to where it came from.
